I ran to Macey's last night to snag a few lunchmeat specials since I landed 7 coupons (Q's) for $1 off Buddig lunchmeat and it was on sale for $1.47 until 10/5 - so I had to go and buy 7 packages (or 3.5 lbs) and spend less than $3.50 total :) That was the first happy!
Then, I counted up my soup coupons because it seems like we've been getting a lot. I am never too crazy about the $.40 off 4 cans of soup, but it adds up. I bought 19 cans of Cream of Mushroom Soup (because that is the number that came up when I added all the coupons together AND Macey's doesn't make you buy the whole case and you can still get the same good deal) and 45 cans of Cream of Chicken Soup and walla! I saved $14.60 just in coupons for these items. So, where you can spend over $1 per Cream Soup (Campbell's, especially), I got a total of 64 cans of soup for $.45 a piece - which is $.03 less than the Western Family brand. So, if I had just bought the Western Family brand, I would have spent $2 more than what I spent on the top brand :) Yes, I am still happy and my DH is happier because he's not a Western Family fan when it comes to his soups! :)
The Buddig Lunch Meat deal is over, but Macey's still has soups on sale for another few weeks. You can find the soup printables at Coupons.com (I think), I also think I got onto Campbell's website - I didn't track these as well. These are Great coupons - you can get $1.50 off 3 with them, but can only print 2 times a piece. But with these combined with 8+ $.40/2 or $.40/4, it adds up. These can be found in the last month of the Smart Source coupons. I have started going through my coupon books and cutting out the Q's that I think I will use or are GREAT deals and keeping them in my binder with my printables and leftovers that I didn't use in the store. That way, if I am at a store and see a deal, I don't have to wish I had my whole Q File Cabinet with me. Try it, maybe you'll like it too :)

Walgreens 101
I have learned one thing about couponing - START SMALL because your first purchase at a new store will inevitably cost more than you planned and will not work out perfectly as planned. My usual phrase continues to apply: Expect the Best, Prepare for the Worst, and Take What Comes (but not without checking carefully and defending what you know is right!)
I went to Walgreens today and did my first really "big" buy. I have been hesitant to try out Walgreens because I have heard their rules are a bit strict and by the time I get up to go, I have spent my money for the week. So, this week, I allotted $10 to Walgreens to try it out. Here's some lessons I learned:
1- Check your RR. If there's more than 1 product listed in the same RR grouping, you can only get 1 at a time and that RR cannot be applied to a purchase of that product again.
For Example: I wanted to buy 2 Tilex and 2 Clorox Wipes, but they were in the same "RR Grouping" that said if you bought 2 of these items, you'd get $2 RR. So, since they were in the same transaction I only got $2 back and not $4 because they were in the same transaction. Resolution: Only buy 1 set of each RR grouping in a transaction.
Second Example: I tried to then by some Clorox Toilet Cleaner (also in the same group) and couldn't get another RR because I used the RR to pay for it - luckily the manager was very nice and reversed that order for me. Resolution: Watch your RR rewards and use a different grouping of RR to pay for this (I used the RR from Cloros to pay for Vicks, then used Vicks' RR to pay for Clorox) More transactions, but you save more.
2- Each coupon must attach to its own item (and RR's count as a coupon).
For example: I tried to buy Vicks Sinex Nasal Spray that was priced at $6 and wanted to use both a $4 coupon and $2 in RR, but I could not do this because there was only 1 item and 2 coupons. Resolution: Buy an extra 50 cent item, or an item that you had to buy anyway (as long as the cost would be the same or nearly the same in a different store - like milk, eggs, etc.) or another item that would be free with the RR you receive back.
Second Example: I tried to buy 2 Clorox Toilet Cleaners with a $1/2 coupon (so it attaches to 2 items) and use a $2 RR, but could not because that would be 3 coupons for 2 items. Resolution: I found some lipstick or treats to buy for about 50 cents to be able to use the coupons and get the savings (I figure I'll use them as stocking stuffers in a few months)
So, here's my final take-home purchase report from Walgreens. Hopefully it helps someone else learn and save.

I went to Rite Aid last week to use my last free coupon for diapers from my "raid" a couple of months ago when Rite Aid had the buy 5 packages of Huggies and get a 6th package free. We have used all those diapers and were in need of new ones. I was nervous because diapers were not on a very good sale, but I did have $15 in gift cards from another rebate purchase. Here's how it went down.

Weekly Savings
Happy 3rd/4th of July all! I had to buy some fruit for a party and knew there were no coupons for this, so instead I searched for the least expensive Strawberries - once I discovered Wal-Mart was my best shopping source, I looked for all the "freebies" with coupons I could get to make this shopping experience a little more fun. It was so fun that I have kept out my receipt to say good job to myself several times over the last day. Here's the breakdown:
4 lbs strawberries (97 cents each - the website told me 78 cents, but oh well, we know Wal-Mart prices can differ!)
3 Cantaloupe 98 cents each
7 ears corn at 15 cents each (should have waited for Winco and their 10 cent deal)
YoPlus (listed at $1.68, but rang up at $2 - less $1 off coupon = $1)
GoGurts (not the best price, not the worst price - $2.25 each with 80 cents off 2) = $1.85 each
Bananas at 49 cents each
3 Dentyne Gum at 96 cents each less $1 off coupons x3 = free plus $.09 overage overall
2 Benadryl Itch Relief Stick $2.28 - less $5 off 2 coupon = free plus $0.44 overage
Noxema Razor $2.97 less $2 off coupon = $0.97 for 4 razor
Total OOP $18.91 - total savings = 40.2% (or $12.71)

The $1 Coupon Joy
I found out about Smith's deal with doubling coupons today and was so happy to "cash" in on it! As it was a coupon day anyway, I pulled all the possible <$1 coupons I had and then decided which would possibly be a good deal and then took the family, split DH and myself with half of the list and gave ourselves a limit of $2/item pretty much and this is what we got:
Ronzoni SmartTaste Pasta (50 cents each)
French Mustard (25 cents final)
French Honey Dipping Sauce (69 cents)
Hunts Ketchup 50 oz. (1.96 each) (coupon for 20 cents off - quintupled coupon x 2 happy day)
Fiber One Chewy Bars ($1) I've always wanted to try these
Mtn High Yogurt 32 oz ($1.50)
6-pack Yogurt = $1.66
Sunny D (25 cents)
More Yogurt 6-pack = $1.08
4 Cover Girl make-ups for $7.42 - some were labeled wrong apparently - it was supposed to be close to free - oh well!
Toaster Strudel $1 each
Frozen Veggies Steamables 66 cents each
Pepperoni 1.29 each
Lunchmeat $1 each
And money off for recyclable bags and 5cents off gas too! Hurray!
Total oop = $28.38
Coupon savings without doubling = $14.40 - with doubling = $23.60 ahh! Lovely numbers - not a complete doubling deal but still happy
Total saved = $44.15 or about 61%
Pretty happy day and my coupon book is lighter and all the clipping and studying has paid off, which is something that I really like to see.
